Generative drawing with Morse code & moons

310.00

An original 30cm diameter generative mixed media drawing, mounted to fit a 38cm square frame.

This is a unique generative pattern on Fabriano archival cotton paper in indian ink, overlaid with Morse code in white acryl gouache, wrapping around 28 moons drawn in polychromos pigment pencil. A set of rules using randomly generated numbers was used to decide the size and placement of each moon. The central moon is our own Luna, the other 27 are imaginary rocky satellites of other worlds. the artwork is supplied ready to frame in a black mount with backing board, and supplied with a certificate of authenticity.

A translation of the Morse code in the artwork is as follows;

“The constant moon in an ever changing sky. I don’t feel at home in the country I was born in. I don’t know if there’s anywhere I belong. But if I see the same moon in every city I sleep in, maybe I belong to the moon. What if we, the tired and disenfranchised, were one nation under the moon? A thousand different views of the same moon, and every awareness of its presence, making us one people? Where is home? Is it a feeling instead of a place? Then perhaps I can have a home anywhere a moon exists.”
